Last updated: October 2026  ·  Effective immediately

Alma is published by GDN Prime (gdnprime.com). This policy explains what data we collect when you use Alma, why we collect it, and how it is used. We keep things simple and only collect what is necessary to run the yearbook.

Information we collect

When you use Alma, we may collect the following:

  • Your phone number, which you verify with a one-time SMS passcode
  • The school your account is linked to
  • A nickname you choose to display in the app (optional)
  • Your votes in class polls
  • Posts you write in your year group's forum
  • Yearbook content created by school administrators: names, photos, quotes and roles
  • Basic device and browser information, such as device type and operating system

How we use your information

Your information is used solely to provide and improve the Alma experience:

  • To create and secure your account
  • To link you to your school and show its yearbook content
  • To let you vote in polls and view results
  • To display your nickname, or your phone number if you have not set a nickname, next to posts you make in your year group's forum, visible to others who can view that forum
  • To improve performance and fix bugs

Phone verification

Alma verifies your identity by sending a one-time passcode to your phone number by SMS, through a secure, trusted third-party provider. We never access your text messages. We only confirm the code you enter.

Where your data is stored

Your account details, votes and forum posts are stored with a secure, trusted third-party cloud provider that hosts our database and authentication. Access is restricted by account permissions, and data is encrypted in transit.

Advertising and cookies

Alma shows advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and to measure how ads perform. You can manage or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings, and learn how Google uses data from sites that use its advertising services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Alma also stores a small preference on your device, such as your light or dark mode choice, so the site looks the way you left it.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:

  • With the infrastructure providers that host and secure the service
  • With advertising partners, to serve and measure advertising
  • If required by law or legal process
  • To protect the rights and safety of users

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

Children's privacy

Alma is used within schools, so yearbook content can include names, photos and quotes of children. That content is curated and published by authorized school administrators, and the school is responsible for obtaining any consent required from parents or guardians before it is added. Children do not publish yearbook content themselves. If you believe a minor's information has been published without appropriate consent, contact us and we will review and remove it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Alma after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
